BIDDING PROCEDURE

Bidding Procedure

Bidding with Australia Pacific Art Auctions (APAA) is simple and secure. Our online auctions are powered by The Saleroom, and you can access our auctions and register to bid through either the APAA website or The Saleroom website.

1. Browse Our Auctions

Visit the Upcoming Auctions section of the Australia Pacific Art Auctions website to explore our current and upcoming auctions.

Each auction includes details of the auction dates, closing times and lots available for bidding.

You can view an auction and its lots directly through our website using our integrated online bidding platform, or visit The Saleroom to find APAA auctions.

2. Register to Bid

You must register for an account and be approved to bid before placing bids.

You can register through either the APAA website or The Saleroom.

To register:

  1. Visit the relevant auction through either website.

  2. Select the option to register or sign in to bid.

  3. Create an account or sign in to your existing account.

  4. Provide the requested contact details and complete any identity or verification checks required by The Saleroom or APAA.

  5. Once approved, you can start bidding.

Please allow sufficient time for registration and approval before the auction closes. Additional verification may be required for certain bidders or purchases.

3. Review the Lot Before Bidding

Before placing a bid, we recommend carefully reviewing the lot description, photographs, estimates, dimensions, condition information and any available provenance or supporting documentation.

Please also consider the applicable buyer’s premium and shipping costs when deciding your maximum bid.

If you require additional photographs, information or a condition report, please contact APAA before bidding.

4. Place Your Bid

Once registered and approved, you can place bids directly through the online auction platform.

You may enter the next available bid or, where the platform allows, enter the maximum amount you are prepared to pay. The Saleroom’s automatic bidding feature may place incremental bids on your behalf up to your nominated maximum.

Please check your bid carefully before confirming it. Bids are binding, subject to APAA’s Auction Terms & Conditions and applicable law.

5. Monitor Your Bids

You can monitor your bids and bidding status through your online account.

We recommend checking your account regularly as the auction approaches its closing time.

Timed auctions may extend when bids are placed shortly before a lot’s scheduled closing time. Any applicable extension will be displayed on the bidding platform.

6. Winning a Lot

If you are the highest valid bidder when a lot closes, and any applicable reserve has been met, you will be the successful purchaser.

Following the auction, APAA will confirm the results and issue your invoice with payment instructions.

7. Payment

Payment must be made by direct bank transfer only, within 48 hours of invoice issue, unless otherwise agreed with APAA.

Payment instructions will be provided with your invoice. Purchased items will not be released or shipped until payment has cleared.

Please ensure that you use the correct payment reference provided by APAA when making your transfer.

8. Shipping & Collection

APAA arranges shipping for standard-sized items and will endeavour to dispatch them within 72 hours of payment clearing, subject to packing requirements and carrier availability.

Shipping, packing and handling costs are payable by the buyer and will be advised or invoiced separately where applicable.

For large, bulky, fragile, valuable or specialist items, please contact APAA for a shipping quote before bidding wherever possible. These items may require a specialist freight or art transport provider.

Collection from APAA in Cairns may be arranged by prior agreement. Purchases must be collected or placed with a nominated carrier within 5 working days of the auction, unless otherwise agreed with APAA.
