Large, Bulky, Fragile & Specialist Items
For large, bulky, fragile, valuable or specialist items, including oversized paintings, sculptures and other artworks requiring specialised handling, APAA may recommend a suitable specialist freight or art transport provider.
Please contact APAA for a shipping quotation before bidding on these items wherever possible. Additional packing, crating, insurance, freight and handling costs will be the buyer’s responsibility.

For standard-sized items, APAA will coordinate suitable postal or courier services where available. For large, bulky, fragile, valuable or specialist artworks, a specialist international freight provider may be required.
International buyers are responsible for applicable shipping, packing, handling, insurance and freight charges, as well as any customs clearance fees, import duties, VAT/GST or other charges imposed by the destination country.
Buyers should check the import requirements of their destination country before bidding. Shipping availability and costs may vary depending on the destination and the nature of the item.
Insurance & Transit
Where APAA arranges shipping, applicable transit insurance may be available under APAA’s shipping arrangements. Where available and agreed with the buyer, APAA may also arrange additional transit insurance on the buyer’s behalf at the buyer’s expense.
Where a buyer arranges their own carrier, the buyer is responsible for confirming appropriate transit insurance and suitable handling arrangements with that carrier.
Please contact APAA if you have questions about insurance coverage, shipping options or the arrangements available for a particular lot.
Shipping Enquiries
We encourage buyers to contact APAA before bidding if they require an estimate for shipping, particularly for large, fragile, valuable or oversized items.
